Course Details

MSc Research and Dissertation

Department:
Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences, Kingston University and St George’s, University of London

Duration: 1 year FT or 2 years PT

Entry Requirements

To join the programme, you would normally need a first or upper-second class degree in a subject area appropriate to your chosen research, but other qualifications may be acceptable.

Structure of the Course

The MSc by Research programme offers you the opportunity to conduct a closely supervised piece of extended research on a topic of your choice.  This can be an area in which are you planning to conduct research at PhD level: an area in which you are currently engaged in your professional life: or a relevant subject in which you simply have a strong interest that you would like to take further.
The degree involves the investigation and evaluation of an approved research topic, and the presentation of a dissertation.  This is approximately 10,000 words long and will be the subject of an oral examination, in which you will be required to demonstrate how you have critically investigated your area of research.
